Charles Jefferson "Jeff" Jones

Charles Jefferson "Jeff" Jones, 57, died Monday, April 29, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverend Mac Goddard officiating. Burial will be private in Riverside Cemetery. Family will greet friends between 5:00-7:00PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 277 Martin Luther King Blvd, Macon, Georgia 31201. While attending Mercer University, Mr. Jones was a member and President of Kappa Alpha Order. He was a United States Navy Seabee and served our country in San Diego, CA, Spain, Guam, Puerto Rico and Jacksonville, FL. He did air field construction work and was an Ocmulgee Fields former President. Woodland South, his development company, built Gateway Plaza, a six story structure in downtown Macon in 2005. It was the first new downtown building since 1980. Mr. Jones was a charter member of the Downtown Rotary Club; the Gridiron Secret Society of the University of Georgia; a past member of leadership Macon, and served as chairman of Governor Zell Miller's re-election campaign for the Middle Georgia area in 1994. He was also a member of Satilla River Club. Jeff and his father, Charles H. Jones, are one of only two father-son pairs who served on the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, serving 20 years apart. Mr. Jones was predeceased by his father, Charles Hubert Jones; and sister, Judy Hay. Survivors include his wife, Tammy Lynn Jones of Destin, Florida; son, Corbin Jones (Kathryn) of Macon, Georgia; daughter, Chase Jones of Macon; stepchildren, Whitney Tucker of Macon and Paris Hutcheson of Destin, Florida; mother, Emily Bredeson (Don) of Pinehurst, North Carolina; brother, Dwight Jones (Tracy) of Macon; sister, Jan Ward (Paul) of Macon; and several nieces and nephews.
