Charles Hadden “Chuck” Baker

February 25, 1959 — October 22, 2025

Macon

Charles Hadden “Chuck” Baker was born in Macon, GA on February 25, 1959, and died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 22, 2025, at the age of 66, after a heroic battle with ALS. Chuck lived his life fully as a proud Husband, Father, Christian and Patriot, headstrong in his beliefs, yet compassionate and loving to all; always putting his family and the best interests of others before his own.

Chuck’s academic studies began at Joseph B. Riley Elementary, leading to his graduation from Central High School in 1978. During his term at Central High, Chuck pursued his military interests by joining and ultimately becoming a very skilled and decorated member of the Junior ROTC; earning his place among the “Golden Boots” Drill Team, which was famously successful, earning many national titles in precision drill.

After graduation, Chuck gained employment with The Southern Bell Telephone Company as a Telecommunications Tech, which he committed himself to daily, providing his team many years of quality, dependable and honest service. He even met the love of his life, Lynn during his early days with the company, before retiring from AT&T in 2018 to pursue the finer things in life: his family, faith and (finally, but sometimes firstly) fishing.

Chuck had many interests and always attacked them with equal fervor, sometimes simultaneously. He gave every endeavor 110% and expected the same from his family and friends. Always a firm believer in the motto “A job worth doing, is worth doing right.”, he found pleasure in working and creating with his hands, being in nature and loving on his family and friends. That was his art, and he made it beautifully. A few titles earned along his path in life include, but are not limited to:

Father ~ Husband ~ Papa ~ Christian ~ Patriot ~ Fisherman ~ Historian ~ Artist ~ Carpenter ~ Technician ~ Blacksmith ~ Friend ~ Sweetheart

Always an angler at heart, Chuck truly enjoyed the many trips made South to fish with family, while enjoying all the trappings and delicacies offered a weary fisherman along the winding, curvy, pine-lined backroads of his beloved home state of Georgia. He truly loved being a Georgian, spending all hours possible in her natural beauty and defending his belief there is no better place to call home.

Chuck lives on forever in the hearts of his family and friends, in the art he created, in the stories that do their best to contain his magnificent character, in the break of the American waters he fished and even in the sunsets that mirror his passing. He was and will always be radiant.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Frederick Charles Baker and Shirley Hadden Baker, brother Jason McCoy Baker and grandson Charles David Dean. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lynn Rhodes Baker; children Lester Harold “Zak” Dean, IV (Katy), Joshua Rhodes Dean (Abby Wren), Molly McCoy Baker, Tommy Haas; grandchildren Zachary Rhodes Dean, Joshua Thomas Haas, Katherine Hollis Dean, Aida Helen Dean and Major Everidge Dean; sibling Marke Alvin Baker, Sr. and numerous nieces and nephews.
