Charles Edward "Eddie" Maddox

Charles Edward "Eddie" Maddox, 71, passed away at home under the care of Heartland Hospice on January 23, 2017. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at 2:00PM at Vineville United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jimmy Asbell officiating. Burial will be private at Macon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends following the memorial service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204, or to the donor's favorite charity. Mr. Maddox was born on August 11, 1945. He was the son of Charlie Wesley and Louise Wood Maddox, who predeceased him. Mr. Maddox graduated from Willingham High School in Macon, Georgia in 1963 and from Georgia College with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1973. Mr. Maddox played tennis on local teams and ran in a number of Labor Day Road Races in the 10k. He had a several mile walking route that he faithfully walked nearly every day. An accountant in budget at Robins Air Force, he retired at age 57 after thirty-three years of service. He then went to work at SAIC as a Budget Analyst, retiring in 2011. Mr. Maddox served in the United States Army for two years and then in the reserves, retiring from 202 El Squadron Georgia Air National Guard in 1996. He was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church and NARFE Cherry Blossom Chapter 2142. Mr. Maddox was a loving husband and father. He kept his lawn in great shape. He was a devoted Georgia Bulldog fan and follower of the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed watching sports and movies, especially old cowboy movies, keeping up with current events on tv and the computer and reading on his Nook. Mr. Maddox is survived by his wife, Susan Ewing Maddox of Macon, Georgia, daughter, Becky Elizabeth Maddox of Macon, Georgia, brother, Dale Forest (Pat) Maddox of Enterprise, Alabama, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
