Charles Cornelius "Charlie" Hilton

Macon- Charles Cornelius "Charlie" Hilton died in his Macon home on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Mr. Hilton was born August 26, 1939 in LaGrange GA. He attended high school in Savannah, GA and then served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by Georgia Power in Macon for more than 35 years. He lived in Crystal River, FL for the last 9 years, returning to Macon earlier this year. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eula Bell Hilton, sisters Katie Talmadge, Margaret Hilton, Della Hilton and Billie Jo Moxley, and brother, Donald Hilton. He is survived by his wife, Joan Joyner Hilton of Macon, GA; daughters Lesley Coumes (David) of Atlanta, GA and Wendy Sellers (Larry) of Milledgeville, GA; stepchildren Terri Higgins of Macon, GA, Talisa Hanson (Dennis) of Macon, GA, and Hue Holland of Ft. Myers, FL ; sisters Etheren Ellis, Sandra Crowley, Jackie Floyd all of Macon, GA, brothers J.D.Hilton of Gray, GA, Richard Hilton of Macon, GA, Willie Hilton of Salinas, Kansas and Marion Hilton of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren Olivia Coumes & Gabrielle Coumes of Atlanta, GA, Lucy Sellers of Milledgeville, GA, Katie Beth Higgins(Adam Gottlieb) of Houston, TX, Denny Hanson of Portland, OR, Maggie Higgins, Emily Higgins, & Joseph Hanson of Macon, GA. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 2PM at Centenary Church, 1290 College St. Macon, GA . The family will greet friends at the church from 12:30PM until the service begins at 2PM. The service will be officiated by Dr. Tim Bagwell and Rev. Helen Willoughby.
