Charles Marvin Avera

Charles M. Avera, 71, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at First Evangelical Church, with Reverend Tim Long officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.

Charles was born in Ashland, Kentucky on December 18, 1950, to the late Claude Eugene Avera and Mary Cherry Lipford Avera Daniel. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a carpenter with the city of Macon. He loved music and taught himself how to read it.  He played guitar and was learning how to play the harmonica.

Charles will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Vickie P. Avera, of Macon, Georgia; grandson, Devon Sage Gaddis, of Sevier County, Tennessee; niece, Amy Hayes (Lee), of Jones County; great nieces, Hannah and Madison Hayes; great-great niece, Nyomi Hayes; aunt, Frances Peek, of Macon, Georgia; sister-in-law, Judy Corr (David), of Macon, Georgia;  cousins, Jimmy Peek (Elaine), of  Griffin, Georgia, and Richard Peek (Susan), of Macon, Georgia; and best friend, Vince Lopresti, of Brunswick, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, April Cherie Gaddis; and his parents.

Hart’s Mortuary and Cremation Center, 765 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201 has charge of the arrangements.
