Champ Drew Ethridge, Jr., 68, of Macon, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Hart’s Chapel on Cherry Street with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will greet friends Tuesday, October 11, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hart’s on Cherry Street. Burial will follow the service at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. Son of the late Champ Drew Ethridge, Sr. and Dezonna Page Ethridge, Champ was a member of Shurlington Baptist Church throughout his childhood. He also attended Ingleside Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Champ was preceded in death by daughters, Amy Melissa Ethridge and Sandra Monica Ethridge and son, Chadwick Brian Ethridge. Champ was the owner and operator of Bibb Auto Parts Salvage, B & E Builders and Part owner of The Harp and Bowl La Bistro and was currently employed with Bass Pro Shops of Macon.
Champ was a hard worker with a passion for the Auto Parts Salvage. He was notorious for working late into the evenings, stacking junk cars and inventorying cars for resale. If you ever came by the junkyard to see him, he would put you to work while waiting on him.
Champ was a true outdoorsman and a great athlete and coach. He loved hunting and fishing nothing felt better to him than snatching a crappie out of the water. He loved his Georgia Bulldogs, and his famous last words were “Go Dawgs!”
Champ also loved racing and being crew chief for his brother, Robert Ethridge, Car #22, winning many championships with the Bibb Auto Racing Team. He was also his Son Curtis Stephens Crew Chief with Car #54. Champ also coached many of his daughter’s softball teams and took them to the World Series.
Champ’s pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He was so proud of their athletic abilities and their relationship with Christ he always told them to give all the Glory to God.
Champ is survived by his wife, Charlotte Ethridge of Macon; children, Amanda Ethridge Cleary (Steve) of Metter, Georgia, Dawn Ethridge Parkerson (Caleb) of Eastman, Georgia, and Curtis Terrell Stephens, Jr. (Katie) of Gray, Georgia; grandchildren, Harrison Cleary, Avery Taylor Cleary, Scarlett Parkerson, C.J. Parkerson, Jadelyn Parkerson, Allison Hardy, and Carlie Stephens; brother, Robert Ethridge, and nieces and nephew, Ashton Ethridge Gore (Jim), Adam Ethridge, and Carson Ethridge.
Hart’s on Cherry Street, Hart's Mortuary and Cremation Center, 765 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201 has charge of the arrangements.
