Celia Drinnon Amerson

Celia Drinnon Amerson, 92, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018. Memorial services will be held at Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon Georgia on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at 2:00 PM. The Reverend Ron Holland will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery.

Celia was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. William C. Drinnon of Macon, Georgia. She was a member of Vineville Baptist Church and the XYZ Sunday School Class. Celia was a member of the Vineville Garden Club and served as the treasurer for a number of years. For many years, she made Christmas and Easter ornaments for the Garden Club to donate to veterans. Celia owned and operated Evelyn Yates Flower Shop for many years and was associated with Len Berg’s Restaurant which was owned by her husband, Jeff. She resided at The Oaks at Peake where she leaves behind many friends who often referred to her as “the candy lady”, “the flower lady” and “the bird lady” because of her lifelong love of watching songbirds and hummingbirds.

Celia is preceded in death by her husband, Jeff D. Amerson, Sr.; son, William Steven Amerson (1949); sisters, Nell Drinnon, Virginia Williams, Elizabeth Lewis, Martha Walden and Dorothy Drinnon; brothers, William M. “Bill” Drinnon and James Robert “Jim” Drinnon.

Celia is survived by her sons, Jefferson (Joy) Amerson and Jerry (Marie) Amerson; daughter, Patsy Amerson Bridgeman, all of Macon; grandchildren, Steven (Christie) Amerson of Perry Georgia, Stuart (Stephanie) Amerson of Dallas, Georgia, Amy (Charlie) Marcrum of Franklin, Tennessee, Merry Bridgeman and Jessie Bridgeman of Macon; great grand-daughter, Ruth Claire Marcrum; brother, Everett (Elizabeth) Drinnon, living in Columbia, South Carolina; brother-in-law, Roger Walden of Macon; and many loving nieces and nephews.
