Cecil Alton Nesmith, Jr.

January 26, 1941 — October 6, 2018

Cecil Alton NeSmith Jr., 77, of Gray passed away October 6, 2018. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Haddock Baptist Church, 180 Ethridge Rd, Haddock, Georgia 31033 with Dr. Ron McClung officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Cecil was born on January 26, 1941 in Macon, Georgia to the late Cecil Alton NeSmith, Sr. and Doris Elizabeth Clements. Cecil was employed as a route salesman for Macon Linen for 32 years. He was a member of Haddock Baptist Church and a former member of Bellevue Baptist Church. Cecil loved hunting, fishing and playing softball. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam where he was awarded Army Commendation Metal with “V” device. Cecil was a loving husband, father and Papa. Cecil was predeceased by his great grandson, Andrew Crouch.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Sarah “Janie” NeSmith of Gray; two daughters, Cecilia Cohen (Brian) of Guyton, Georgia and Nancy Jaindl (Chris) of Gray; four grandchildren, Jennifer Crouch (Jon), Clint Clements, Christopher Watson, and Nicki Watson; two step grandchildren, Drew Jaindl and Jessie Rawls; six great grandchildren, Morgan Corley, Cohen Corley, Dozier Crouch, Jaxson Crouch, Paisley Watson and Eli Dumas; three step-great grandchildren, Kylee Smith, Aubrey Jaindl and Ashton Jaindl; a brother, Johnny NeSmith (Merilyn) of Dublin, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
