Catherine Childree Pye

Catherine Childree Pye, 92, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025.  A Memorial Service and celebration of her life will be held at 2:00PM on February 22, 2025, in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola. Dr. Mark Hudgins will officiate.

Daughter of the late William Jennings Childree and Jeffie Windham Childree, Mrs. Pye was born on May 26, 1932, in Reynolds, Georgia.  Catherine worked as a switchboard operator for Bellsouth, and then later as an Administrative Office Manager with United States Navy base in Athens, GA and Robins Air Force Base. She graduated from Macon State College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. She was a devoted Christian and member of Ingleside Baptist Church for 65 years. Catherine enjoyed reading, sewing, and especially spending time with her family. She was a loving mom, grandmother, sister, and friend. Catherine had a beautiful smile that would light up the room. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.

Survivors include her sons, Harmon “Trip” Pye, III, and Randall Craig Pye (Lynmarie Rae); four grandchildren; five  great-grandchildren; and sisters: Vetra Brown, Louise Creecy (John), and Verna Maurine Tauton (Tom).

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pye was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Gardner Pye, Jr.; and four brothers and five sisters.
