Carolyn Dean Marbut

November 17, 1942 — June 20, 2009

Carolyn Dean Marbut, 66, of 2776 S Hillandale Circle died Saturday, June 20, 2009. Memorial services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Vineville United Methodist Church with Dr. Marcus Tripp and the Reverend Robert Greene officiating. The family may be contacted at the residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Hospice, 6060 Lakeside Commons Drive, Macon, GA 31204; or Caringbridge.org, P.O. Box 131447, Houston, TX 77219-1447. Mrs. Marbut grew up in Atlanta and then Athens where she was a member of Athens High School Class of 1960. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in English Literature and was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. After moving to Macon in 1971, she received her Masters of Education from Mercer University. She was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church where she was on the Altar Guild, a member of the Allen Sanders Fellowship Class, and Grace Bible Study. In the real estate industry for over 20 years, she worked as a Broker at Sheridan Solomon and Associates, was a member of the Middle Georgia Association of Realtors and a Life Member of the Million Dollar Club. She was active in many organizations including the Junior League of Macon, Magnolia Garden Club and Bound by Books Bookclub. She was also a Master Gardener and a Board Member of the Southeastern Flower Show in Atlanta. Mrs. Marbut, beloved wife of William Thomas "Bill" Marbut for 46 years, is survived by her husband and children, Susan Marbut DuPre' (Paul) of Huntsville, Alabama, Ellen Marbut Baker (Russell) of Seattle, Washington, and William Thomas Marbut, Jr. (Hollis Sams) of Macon; nine grandchildren; mother, Eleanor Scarborough Dean of Macon; and sisters, Sharon Pulnik of St. Petersburg, Florida, Melinda Bordes of Anna Maria, Florida, and Patricia Scarcliff of Homasassa, FL.
