Carolyn Elder James

Carolyn Elder James, 200 Pierce Avenue, died May 30, 2013 at home. Memorial services will be held in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 2:00PM. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until 2:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Forest Hills United Methodist Church or Macon Outreach of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. James was a native of Macon and attended local schools. She graduated from Sullins Junior College in Bristol, Virginia with an associate degree in piano and received a Bachelor of Music degree from Wesleyan Conservatory. She was the daughter of the late Erwin Wesley Elder and Etha King Elder. Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband, the late Norbert Marcel James. She was a member of the Grace Bible Class and Forest Hills United Methodist Church and a former member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. James is survived by her son, Mark Wesley James (Catherine) and daughter, Cherie James Mock (Timmy); five grandchildren, Christopher Mark James, Matthew Wesley James, Allison Elizabeth James, Shannon Cherie Mock and Rebecca Michelle Gaskins; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
