Carolyn Griffin

Edna Carolyn Griffin, 94, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, after an extended illness.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street.  The family will greet friends 1 hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow the service at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carolyn was a lifelong resident of Macon and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She retired from the Bibb County Board of Education where she was the Food Service Director at Jessie Rice Elementary School for many years.

Carolyn was a friend to all that knew her. Many were blessed by her passion for cooking. She was known for her cakes, pies, and especially her cheese straws.  One of her greatest achievements was publishing “Cooking with Carolyn,” a collection of treasured recipes from family, friends, and her cooking expertise.

She enjoyed working in the yard and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Carolyn will be lovingly remembered by her son, Mike Griffin (Kathy) of Macon; granddaughter, Allie Capps (Chris) of Greenville, South Carolina; and grandson, Matthew Griffin of Peachtree Corners, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Griffin; parents, J.V. McCuen and Edna Morris McCuen; sisters, Josie McCuen, Betty Garrard, and Ann Hardison; and brothers, Dendy McCuen, Sr., and Charles McCuen.
