Carole Yvonne Whitehead

Ms. Carole Yvonne Whitehead, 81, of Twiggs County, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024.  Funeral services will be at Hart’s Mortuary Cherry Street Chapel, Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 5:00PM, with the Reverend Wesley Bridgers officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens will be private.

Born in Macon, Georgia, Carole was a graduate of Dudley Hughes High School.  She married and started a family in 1961.  After her children started school, Carole began her career at GMC/ Grumman Secretarial where she worked in the field of aeronautics.  Carole was spunky and adventurous, and she competed as a race car driver with more than 30 wins in a Powder Puff Derby.  She had a green thumb and enjoyed tending the vegetables and flowers in her garden.

Carole is preceded in death by her parents, William and Velma Whitehead; her beloved sister, Jeanette Miller; and her nephew, Paul Butts.  She is survived by her daughter, Tracie Caruthers of Macon; sons, Carl Caruthers of Macon, and Lon Caruthers of Twiggs County; sister, Gena Wood (Jim) of Macon; seven grandsons; one great-granddaughter; two great-grandsons; special nephew, Grady Miller of Gray; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend of 72 years, Sylvia Clark of Warner Robins.

Hart’s Jones County Chapel, Hart's Mortuary and Cremation Center, 307 Pecan Lane, Gray, GA 31032 has charge of arrangements.
