Carolann was born in Macon, Georgia. She earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communication and English from Flagler College and Master of Library and Information Science from Valdosta State University. Carolann worked as a medical librarian at the University of Washington where she researched medical literature, evidence-based medicine, and biomedical scholarly communication.
