Carol Beth (Grossman) Besser

Carol Besser passed away in Macon, Georgia on February 26, 2015 after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held at Sha'arey Israel Cemetery in Rose Hill Cemetery at3:00 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2015 with Rabbi Aaron Rubinstein officiating. Carol was born on October 24, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to Adolph Grossman and Mary Jane Grossman. She was the older sister of Judy Grossman (Dunworth). Carol graduated Cleveland Heights High School in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, where she was active in the choir and was a member of a singing group, the Quarternotes, who performed on television. Carol attended Ohio State University, where she met her husband Arthur S. Besser. Arthur and Carol were married on March 26, 1959 at the Fairmont Temple in Beachwood, Ohio. Carol supported her husband Arthur in his successful medical career. Carol was active in the Boy Scouts, Sisterhood, PTA and other varied organizations in the Chicago area. Carol returned to college later in life receiving a bachelor's degree in psychology from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and a Master's Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago. Moving with her husband to Macon, Georgia in 1991, Carol became an active member at Congregation Sha'arey Israel, where she sang in the choir. Carol also sang with the choir at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Macon. Carol was also involved with the Macon Symphony Orchestra and the Children's Hospital. Carol was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed her numerous dogs and cats. Carol was an accomplished pianist and singer, who loved music. Carol is survived by her son Daniel and his wife Anne, her son David, her daughter Deborah Oliner and her husband Henry Oliner, her sister Judy Dunworth and her husband Tom Dunworth, her brother-in-law Howard Besser and his wife Barbara Kaye Besser, and her grandchildren, Natalie Oliner, Russell Cucchiara-Besser, and Victoria Cucchiara-Besser.
