Carl W. Knott, aged 65 of Macon, GA, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at home surrounded by family following a long battle with cancer. Carl was born in Heard County Georgia, the son of the late George M. Knott and Juanita (Parrott) Knott. He moved with his parents to Macon, GA in approximately 1963. Carl began his work history at Tom's Foods before moving on to the type of work he found to be his calling, that of bearings and transmission specialist. He spent a number of years with Bearings and Drives and, Finally, Applied Industrial Technologies where he was employed for over 20 years before becoming disabled from illness. He was referred to by many in the industry as "Father Knowledge." In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, reloading and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Teal Knott, of Macon; daughter, Hope (Kevin) Leuenberger of Macon; stepdaughter, Saylm (Chad) Middleton of Forsyth; 9 grandchildren, James Leuenberger, Katherine Leuenberger, Jacob Leuenberger, sarah Leuenberger, Hannah Leuenberger, Joseph Leuenberger, Josiah Leuenberger, Tyler Middleton and Mackenzie Middleton; sister, Penny (Charles) Branam of Dublin; and nephew, Britt Burr of Dublin. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street.
