Carl Sherrill Buice, 81, died on Thursday, July 23, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Ingleside Baptist Church chapel, with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Carl was originally from Sugar Hill, GA, in Gwinnett County. He graduated from Central Gwinnett High School, Lawrenceville, GA, and Mercer University, where he was a member of the Mercer Choir, ROTC and Sigma Nu fraternity. Upon graduation from Mercer, he received a commission as second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Carl was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having earned the Bronze Star for meritorious service as an Army officer in Danang, Vietnam.

Carl’s career was in the insurance industry, having begun in underwriting and marketing for 2 insurance companies in Atlanta. There he met his wife, Cindy, who had come there from Knoxville, Tennessee after graduating college. Carl and Cindy were married in 1972 and moved to Macon from Atlanta in 1975. After managing Johnson-Williams Insurance agency, he started his own insurance agency in Macon, Buice & Associates, which he later expanded to offices in Duluth, McDonough and Birmingham, AL. As an agent, Carl was on the advisory board of multiple insurance companies as well as an officer in local and state chapters of Independent Insurance Agents of America. While an agent, Carl and Cindy were able to travel over the years to multiple countries as guests of the insurance companies he represented, the memories of which they treasured.

Carl was a faithful member of Ingleside Baptist Church and the Journey Sunday School class. He loved to watch football and baseball, and spending time at the Georgia Coast. He will be missed greatly.

He is survived by Cindy, his wife of 54 years; two sons, Ben Buice of Dunwoody, GA, and Noah Buice (Ashley) of Milton; three grandchildren, Layton, Lennon, and Walker Buice of Milton; as well as several nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, T. Carl and Velma Buice, and his brother, Avon Buice. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Gideons International.
