Burton H. Bershaw

Burton H. Bershaw passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Burial will be in William Wolff Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 1:30PM until 2:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the donor's favorite charity. Mr. Bershaw, son of the late Harry I. and Selma Dampsey Bershaw, was born in New York City on April 27, 1932. He graduated from Lee Edwards High School in Asheville, North Carolina in 1949. In 1953, Mr. Bershaw earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Eta Sigma and in 1954, he was awarded a Master's degree from New York University. Mr. Bershaw retired from Lerner Shops after thirty-two years of service and then retired a second time from Allied Department Stores. Mr. Bershaw's family was his passion, along with traveling extensively for many years in South America, Egypt, Russia and almost every country in Europe. The world was there to see and he and his wife wanted to experience all of it. Mr. Bershaw will be sorely missed by his loving wife of fifty years, Audrey (Vickie) Bershaw; daughters, Kim (Bill) Zabinski and Kerry (Craig) Tuschhoff, both of Orange County, California, and Teresa (Jorge) Roman of Quito, Ecuador; grandchildren, Hayley and Colin Tuschhoff, Noelle Zabinski and Michelle and Sofia Roman; brother, Stanley (Phyllis) Bershaw of Connecticut; nephews, Alan (Amyjo) Bershaw of Connecticut and David Bershaw of Florida.
