Dr. Bruce Carlton Brumfield , 74, a longtime resident of Haddock, Georgia, journeyed to be with the Lord on February 5, 2022. He was born March 1, 1947, in New Rochelle, New York, to Perry C. Brumfield and Margaret Brumfield-Rentz. When he was in his early teens, his family moved to Jesup, Georgia.
He earned his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Georgia Southern College in Statesboro, Georgia. He was very proud to be the recipient of the first Master of Business Administration ever awarded by the college. He continued his education at Mississippi State University, where he earned a Doctorate of Business Administration.
From 1972 to 1978, he was the Chairman of the Department of Business administration at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi. From 1978 to 2009 he was a professor at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. During this time, he served as Director of Graduate Studies in Business, Dean of the Graduate School, and Director of the Macon Campus. After retirement he was an Adjunct Professor of Economics at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville.
He was also the pastor of the historic Methodist church in Bolingbroke for over thirty years.
Dr. Brumfield spent years collecting early Disney memorabilia and was featured in several news articles and an episode of Personal FX: The Collections Show television program showcasing his collection of rare items. He always enjoyed hunting antique malls and flea markets for items to add to his collections.
He is survived by “Cissy” MaryJane Brumfield, his “Dear” wife of 52 years. Also surviving are his two children, Robert (Theresa) Brumfield of Mechanicsville, Pennsylvania and Laura (Roy) Roberts of Macon; his six grandchildren, Graham Goodwin, Carlie Brumfield, Blake Brumfield, William Goodwin, Kaitlyn Roberts, and Zane Brumfield; his brother, Jeff Brumfield of Austin, Texas; special family members,
Flo Mellard and Margaret (Neal) McDonald of Macon; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will have a memorial reception Saturday, February 12, from 3:00pm-5:00pm at 1269 Jackson Springs Rd., Macon, 31211. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210.
