Bonnie Mary Land Penn, 88, of Bolingbroke, died Saturday, May 31, 2014. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with Pastors David Mount and Mark Grinsted officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA., 31210, or Save-A-Pet animal rescue at P.O. Box 933, Forsyth, GA, 31029. She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel M. Penn; her parents, Bonnie Maria Davis and Grover Cleveland Land; her brothers, Davis Land, Ralph Land, Roland Land and Hudson Land. Born in Dry Branch, she was a lifelong member of Stone Creek Baptist Church in Twiggs County. When she moved to Macon, her home for many years, she, her husband and several friends founded Trinity Interdenominational Church, later to become Trinity Baptist Church. In the 1950s, she worked at Robins Air Force Base in the Electronic and Armament Control Branch, Shops Production Control Division. She later became a homemaker and also served as a substitute teacher at Cynthia Weir Elementary School in the 1960s and briefly worked as a proofreader at the Macon Telegraph. Mrs. Penn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Walter Pearman of Bolingbroke; three brothers, Victor (Blanche) Land, Malcolm (Evelyn) Land, both of Macon, and Buford Land of Olympia, Washington; three sisters-in-law, Edna Land of Jeffersonville, Marilyn Land of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Betty Land of Macon; long-time family friend, Mary Kelly of Jones County; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.
