Bobby Gene Sanders

Milledgeville-Bobby Gene Sanders, 75, died Monday, March 22, 2010. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Mike Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Rosary will begin at 6:00PM on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. Family will greet friends following the rosary. Mr. Sanders was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Milledgeville. He was a graduate of Lanier High School and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Sanders was the former owner of Pinebrook Package Store. He worked for Georgia Wholesale Distributing for eighteen years. He was the Past President of the Middle Georgia Bulldog Club and long time member and director of Macon Touchdown Club. Mr. Sanders was instrumental in establishing the Macon Touchdown Educational Foundation, Inc. which, since its inception, has awarded approximately $200,000 in scholarships to scholar athletes. Mr. Sanders was a colorful public announcer for Mount de Sales High School football games for eighteen years. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and long time supporter and season's ticket holder for multiple sports. He worked in conjunction with the former Athletic Directors of University of Georgia and was instrumental in initiating the Georgia Cheers Booster Club. Mr. Sanders was predeceased by his son, William Ridley Sanders.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 50 years, JoAnn Sanders of Lake Sinclair; sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Deanna Sanders of Macon, Philip and Donna Sanders of Macon, and Robert and Katie Sanders of Dalton; five grandchildren, Blake Sanders of Macon, Jarrett Sanders of Macon, Haley Poythress of Macon, Jolee Sanders of Dalton, and Justin Sanders of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, William B. and Katherine Sanders of Macon; and nephew, Walter Sanders of Macon.
