Robert "Bobby" Luther Sanderlin Sr

Robert Luther “Bobby” Sanderlin, Sr. 87, of Gray, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday September 25, 2026, at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, with the Reverend Danny Mundy officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.

Bobby was born on December 20, 1938, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Joseph Vinson Sanderlin and Mildred Christine McDermid. He proudly served his country after being drafted into the United States Army. He was a member of the IBEW Union of Electricians for 67 years and worked at Robins Air Force Base beginning in 1984 and retired in 1997 with a medical retirement.

Bobby was a true master craftsman who could build or fix just about anything. He loved hunting, fishing, and anything to do with the outdoors. He could be found “patrolling” around his yard with his handmade yard stick. He loved the Lord dearly and was ready to be called home. He was a deeply patriotic man who was proud of his country and family.

Known affectionately as “Granddaddy” by both family and friends, Bobby had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved. His infectious laugh could brighten any room, and his kindness, humor, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.

Bobby is survived by his son, Robert “Bobby” (Melissa) Sanderlin, Jr.; daughter, Michelle (Roger) Rodriguez; grandchildren: Katelyn “Katie” (Lee) Hartley, Ryan Rodriguez, Tyler (Shana) Roberts, Miranda (Will) Scales, Taylor Roberts, Mason Reynolds, Tiffany (Josh) Josey, Trey Sanderlin, and Rayna Rodriguez; fourteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; siblings, Joe (Mimi) Sanderlin, Jackie (Chris) Aiken, George (Debbie) Baxter, and Christie (Charlie) Traughber; and eight nephews and nieces along with fifteen great-nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his grandchild, Morgan Christine Reynolds; and brother, Jimmy Baxter.
