Bobby Joe Myhan, 75, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Friday October 3, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, teaching, and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Born on January 23, 1950, Bobby served in the United States Marine Corps, where his life was forever changed in 1974. While stationed with fellow Marines, he was often seen reading his Bible in the dining facility. Two Marines approached him and asked if he had heard of the church of Christ. Raised in the Baptist denomination, Bobby realized through study that he had not truly heard the gospel until then, at the age of twenty-four. From that moment, his love for the Scriptures guided the rest of his life.
By 1977, Bobby was preaching full-time, beginning a ministry that would span nearly five decades. He served as Preacher at the Cleveland, Tennessee church of Christ from 1977–1981, the West Hamilton congregation in Hamilton, Alabama from 1983–1999, and the Forest Hills congregation from 1999 to the present. Since 2018, he also preached for the Hardies Chapel church of Christ on Sunday evenings. Known for his devotion to truth and his ability to make the complicated simple, Bobby became a trusted preacher, teacher, and debater, defending the gospel in discussions with denominational leaders.
He pursued education at the University of South Carolina, Florida College, and Chattanooga State, which equipped him for a lifetime of teaching and study. He authored Water Baptism and Salvation, an in-depth examination of the role of baptism in eternal salvation.
In recent years, Bob expanded his ministry online through Bob’s Bible Basics on Facebook and YouTube, where he faithfully broadcast live lessons every Monday evening. He also served as an administrator and speaker for Answering Religious Error, a global online outreach watched by thousands.
Beyond his ministry, Bobby was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Vanessa, and two grandchildren, Grant and Parker, whom he loved dearly; his brother, Gene Myhan (Sheryl); two nephews, Lance and Lee Myhan; and niece, Stacy Wilson Dobbs.
He was preceded in death by his parents William H. Myhan and Ernestine Posey Myhan; and sister, Carolyn Myhan Wilson.
A service to honor Bobby’s life and faith will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave. Chattanooga, TN. Friends and brethren are invited to gather and celebrate the impact Bobby had on so many lives.
Bobby’s life was a testimony to the power of the Gospel. He will be remembered as a Marine, a preacher, a teacher, and most of all, a faithful servant of Christ.
