Bobby Ray Dunn

November 11, 1944 — June 15, 2013

Bobby Ray Dunn, 68, died June 15, 2013 after a lengthy battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 2 PM at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola with the Reverend Joe McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount de Sales Academy Capital Campaign, 851 Orange Street, Macon, GA 31201 or to Hopewell United Methodist Church, 188 Hopewell Church Rd NW, Milledgeville, GA 31061.

Bobby was born in Cleveland, Tennessee and was the son of the late Marvin Joseph & Myrtle Thomas Dunn. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Gerald Dunn. He worked for Georgia Power Company for 34 years. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and outdoorsman as well as a volunteer firefighter. Many of his friends knew him as the "mayor of Hurst Drive." He retired at the age of 52 to be a full time grandfather as his greatest joy was in spending time with his three grandchildren, Haley, Anna, and Michael. He was their biggest fan and could often be found watching them play sports, picking them up from school, and supporting them in every way possible.

Bobby is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Ruth Rickman Dunn; his son Jeff (Lisa) Dunn of Milledgeville, Georgia; his daughter Suzy (Miguel) Garcia of Macon, Georgia; three grandchildren, Haley Dunn of Lithia Springs, Georgia, Anna Garcia & Michael Garcia of Macon, Georgia; his sister Brenda Dunn Lyons (Thomas) of Rome, Georgia; his sister-in-law Wanda Beck Dunn of Tallulah Falls, Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family would like to thank his excellent caregivers at The Oaks on Peake Rd. as well as Pine Pointe Hospice. A very special thank you to his physician and personal friend, Dr. Dipesh Patel, for his loving care, guidance, and support.
