Beverly Jane Held

Beverly Jane Held, 73, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 5:30 PM, at Hart’s Mortuary, at the Cupola with the Rabbi Larry Schlesinger officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Beverly Jane Held was born on June 13, 1945, to Dr. Abraham I. Schwartz and Rose Kobrovsky Schwartz in Reading, Pennsylvania. She was the only child of the Schwartz’s and attended Reading High School. She majored in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. She was married to and is survived by her soulmate, Gilbert Held, for over 50 years. She leaves behind a son, Jonathan Seth (Lisa), and a daughter, Jessica Lee (David). Jonathan has two boys that were the very best grandsons of Beverly. Jessica, her daughter, gave Beverly two precious granddaughters. Beverly moved to Macon on the last day of 1976. She was initially a librarian and her love of teaching got the best of her. She spent more than 20 years teaching at Ballard Hudson Middle School. She is survived by Gilbert, her two children and four grandchildren. In later years she would constantly read, with some of her favorite authors being Nelson DeMille, John Grisham, Michael Connelly and Bill O’Reilly. In lieu of flowers, please donate a book or two to the Friends of the Library at 2720 Riverside Dr.
