Betty S. Tidwell

Betty S. Tidwell, 73, of Jones County, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, January 26, 2021.  A graveside service will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens with Brother Clinton Fields and Brother Billy Adams officiating.  The family will greet friends Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel.

Born March 29, 1947 to the late C.B. and Pearl Amerson, Mrs. Tidwell retired from the Jones County Transportation Service, having driven a school bus for 15 years. She also worked at the Jones County Recycling Centers.  She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, word search puzzles and Hallmark movies.  Mrs. Tidwell was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Robert Jerry Tidwell; great-grandson, Robert Andrew Moody; sisters, Shirley Reid and Earline Johnson; and brothers, Dennis Amerson and Charles “Bob” Amerson.

Mrs. Tidwell is survived by her children, Betty Mertens (Herman) James Gibson, and Terry Yates (Ami); grandchildren, Crissy Price (Jodi), Casey Birdsong (Travis), Alicia Kelleher (Daniel), and Josh Gibson; great-grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Brooklyn, Michael, Kylie, Emma, Anna, Emily, Caleb, Hunter, and Trevor; stepchildren, Robert Tidwell, Susan Tidwell, and Ken Mullis; sister-in-law, Carrie Amerson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
