Bernice "Bunny" P. Ard

Decatur, GA- Bernice "Bunny" P. Ard, a longtime resident of Sunnydale Drive in Macon, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at her home in Decatur. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 2:00PM at Macon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Cross Keys United Methodist Church, 1825 Jeffersonville Road, Macon, GA 31217. Mrs. Ard worked at the Dempsey Hotel, then contributed to the World War II effort by working at a munitions plant before becoming a fulltime homemaker. She was a member of Cross Keys United Methodist Church, Senior Citizens' Club and Middle Georgia Coin Club. Mrs. Ard was predeceased by her husband of sixty-six years, Ferrell R. Ard, Sr., her parents, Preston S. Porter and Mary Ann Bush Porter and nine siblings, Rubye Henry, Troy Porter, Alton Porter, Donal Porter, Hugh Porter, Leslie Porter, P.S. Porter and Julia Jones. Mrs. Ard is survived by her children, Ferrell R. Ard, Jr. of Cocoa Beach and Sandra A. Fisher (Greg) of Atlanta; grandchildren, Katie C. Fisher and Emily A. Fisher, both of Atlanta.
