Bennie Ray Brown

February 16, 1955 — January 20, 2024

Jones County

Mr. Bennie Ray Brown, 68, of Jones County, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024.  Funeral services will be at Dames Ferry Baptist Church, Thursday, January 25, 2024.  The family will greet friends at the church at 10:00AM, and the service will follow at 11:00AM.

Bennie was a man who knew the meaning of hard work.  He worked for Cherokee Brick, and later in his life, would have been seen working as an attendant at the recycling centers in Jones County. At home, he always kept busy working in his yard or building something and was known to be able to fix just about anything. Bennie was a kind, sweet man who would give you the shirt off his back.  He was funny and down-to-earth and had a great sense of humor.  Bennie enjoyed football and was a die-hard fan of the Atlanta Falcons.  Just standing around a bonfire with friends and family was one of his favorite things to do.  Bennie loved Southern Gospel and learned to play the piano when he was 12 years old.  He grew up playing piano at Dames Ferry Baptist Church where he attended with his parents and siblings. Bennie later attended Countryside Baptist Church with his wife and children and shared his musical talent with many other churches as well.  Bennie will be remembered as a man of God who loved his family and lived out his faith every day.

Bennie is preceded in death by parents, Charles and Sara Brown; his father-in-law, Robert McDaniel; and his sister, Charlotte Stephens. He is survived by his wife, Annie "Ann" Estelle Brown; daughters, Aurelia Rita Land (Michael) of Byron, Sarah Ann Ordaz of Fort Valley; son, Brian Ray Brown (Becky) of Gray; grandchildren, Harley Villicana (Sergio) of Texas, Brittany Sandoval (Javier) of Warner Robins, Georgia, Austin Colvin of Warner Robins, Blake Brown, Jacob Brown, Kara Brown, Ayden Brown, Bailey Brown (Hunter), Eli Land and Ian Land; great-grandchildren, Manuel, Isaiah, Maria, Soraya, Abel, Niko, Josiah, Yoanna, and Avah; brother, Charles Brown, Jr. (Mary) of Macon, Georgia; sister, Connie Brown; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
