Lizella, GA. Benjamin Franklin "Frankie" Newberry, Jr. passed away April 16, 2010. A visitation will be held Sunday from 3 pm to 5 pm at Hart's on Cherry Street. The funeral service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, Monday, April 19, 2010, at 11 am, with burial following in the church cemetery. The Reverends Irvin R. Yoder, David Lee Mosely, and Benjamin Newberry will officiate. Mr. Newberry was an active member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church. He was active in the youth group as well as serving on numerous church committees. A dairy farmer for 44 years, he was actively involved in the Georgia Holstein Association, and was a past president of the organization. Following his retirement, he worked for Hatcher - Milling Company for five and a half years. He loved the outdoors, especially his birddogs, horses, and he enjoyed quail hunting. He adored his large family. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Newberry; sons, Donald (Cindy) Newberry, Douglas Newberry; daughters, Beverly (Harold) Boyce, Cheryl McKenzie, and Vickie Jo (Scott) Stokes; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Flowers are accepted as well as memorial donations to Bethel Baptist Church. Harts Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
