Dr. Benjamin Robert Busbee, son of the late Floyd Edward Busbee, Sr., and Mary Ellen Busbee of Macon, Ga, died on Saturday, April 23, 2011, in Mobile, AL. Dr. Busbee was a native of Macon, Georgia, and a resident of Mobile, Alabama for the past thirty-four years. Dr. Busbee was an obstetrician and gynecologist with Azalea City Physicians for Women. He practiced with Dr. Knute Mueller and Dr. Glenn Gallaspy, Jr., his entire career. Dr. Busbee was a graduate of Lanier High School where he was captain of the golf team and an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Emory University and the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Busbee interned at Charlotte Memorial, Charlotte, North Carolina and did his residency at UAB. He was a member of the Medical Society of Mobile County, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a member of the Charles Flowers Society. Dr. Busbee was preceded in death by his sister, Ellen Busbee Branch and his brother, Floyd "Buddy" Busbee, Jr. Dr. Busbee is survived by his wife, Marianne McLendon Busbee of Mobile and daughter, Brandon Leigh Busbee of Atlanta, Georgia. Visitation will be held at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2011, with graveside services to follow at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul's Episcopal School, 161 Dogwood Lane, Mobile, AL 36608, or the American Heart Association, 5962 Zebulon Rd, No. 359, Macon, GA 31210, or charity of your choice.
