Bena Ballard Williamson

Bena Ballard Williamson, age 100, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015, in Brunswick, Georgia. Mrs. Williamson was born in Pike County, Georgia, August 2, 1914. She was one of eleven children of William Powell Ballard and Susie Davis Ballard. Mrs. Williamson is predeceased by her husband, John Henry Williamson, and her seven brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Williamson spent thirty years working with her husband at the Masonic Home of Georgia in Macon. For the last thirteen of those years, while Mr. Williamson was superintendent, she served as hostess, healthcare advisor, and surrogate mom for the many children who shared their early lives with them at the Masonic Home. The couple retired in 1976 and moved to Lake Sinclair. After Mr. Williamson passed away in 1987 she remained in their lakeside home until 2008 when she moved to Eulonia, Georgia to live with her son Larry. Mrs. Williamson is a member of Mulberry United Methodist Church in Macon, Georgia. Mrs. Williamson is survived by her sons Lamar Williamson (Sandra) and Larry Williamson; grandsons Chris Williamson, Rob Williamson (Sandra), and Wade Williamson (Kim), and great grandchildren Hendley and Christian Wilder; Scott, Ashley, Mary, James, and Michael Williamson; Hunter, Ella, and Lily Williamson, and Banks Williamson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverend Rob McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Charlie's Place, Darien United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 681, Darien, Georgia 31305 or to the Masonic Home of Georgia.
