Beatrice “Sue” V. Cassidy

Beatrice “Sue” V. Cassidy, 91, of Macon, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022.  A funeral mass will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Private burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Claver, 131 Ward St., Macon, GA 31204, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 Poplar St, Macon, GA 31201, or Mount de Sales Academy, 851 Orange St., Macon, GA 31201.

Mrs. Cassidy was born September 30, 1930, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Lucien T. and Beatrice T. Vivien.   While attending Loyola University, she met her husband, Dr. James L. Cassidy, Sr.  They moved to Macon in early 1954.  She loved traveling, cooking, and flower arranging.  She and her daughter, Kathleen, owned Ingleside Books.  She taught at both St. Joseph’s and St. Peter Claver schools.  Mrs. Cassidy earned her master’s degree in mathematics from Mercer University. She was involved in state and national Dental Society Auxiliaries.

Mrs. Cassidy was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James L. Cassidy, Sr.; daughter, Kathleen Thomason (Ron); and son, Dr. Daniel Cassidy (Leslie).

Mrs. Cassidy is survived by her daughter, Mary Freeman (Ron); son, Dr. James L. Cassidy, Jr. (Wendy); brother, Gene Vivien (Janice); grandchildren, Dr. James L. Cassidy, III, Charles Cassidy (Taylor), Emily Brown (Mark), Katie Nickels (Bobby), Dr. Daniel Cassidy (Clara), and Ben Cassidy; and 6 great grandchildren.

The family is deeply grateful to Tasheila, Sadie, Estella, Bessie, and Diamond, who tirelessly cared for our mother for the past 4 years.  We also thank the Heartland Hospice staff for their compassionate care.
