Beatrice "Bea" Brooks

Beatrice “Bea” Brooks, 87, of Ivey, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021.  A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Hart’s Mortuary’s Chapel of the Cupola with Bob Myhan officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.

Beatrice was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Claybron Vaughn and Beatrice Cook Vaughn.  She met the love of her life, Bobby Brooks, on a blind date at the young age of fourteen. Later they married and were still the light of each other’s lives 71 years later, until she crossed into Heaven’s gates. Together they had four children, but she was known as “Mama Bea,” to many.  Beatrice was member of the Church of Christ in Milledgeville and the Gordon Woman’s Club.  She volunteered in the neonatal care unit at Atrium Navicent Health for over 25 years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Brooks; children, Christy Mills (Phil), of Ivey, Georgia, David Brooks (Jill), of Thomaston, Georgia, Keith Brooks (Charlene), of Ivey, Georgia, Cheri Carlson (deceased husband, William “Chief”), of Vass, North Carolina, and David Bryant (Nikki), of Gordon, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, Kristin Nixon (Matt), of Augusta, Georgia, Justin Mills (Maggie), of Milledgeville, Georgia, Josh Mills (Danae), of McPherson, Kansas. Brandon Brooks (Brittany), of Kathleen, Georgia, Tyler Brooks, of Thomaston, Georgia, Chad Brooks (Lanie), of Jefferson, Georgia, Tiffany Loyd (Jason), of Ivey, Georgia, Cole Brooks (Shelly), of Augusta, Georgia, Hunter Brooks, of Milledgeville, Georgia, Shaun Carlson (Caroline), of Southern Pines, North Carolina, and Shayne Carlson, of Vass, North Carolina; twenty great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Gayle Jones (Britt), of Merritt Island, Florida, Evelyn “Becky” Vaughn, of Atlanta, Georgia, Cherie Vaughn, of New Orleans, Louisiana, Pam Steele (Kyle), of Macon, Georgia, and Stephen Vaughn (Heather), of Milledgeville, Georgia.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn “Sissy” Patterson; brothers, Claybron “Bama” Vaughn (Kathleen) and Douglas “Sonny” Vaughn (Delores).
