Barbara Allen Stanton Domingos died on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2024, at Carlyle Place in Macon, Georgia. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on February 7, 1942.
She graduated from A.L. Miller High School for Girls in Macon, Georgia, in 1960 and earned Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Mathematics and French from Mercer University. After graduating from Mercer, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she was employed by Armour Agricultural Chemical Company as a statistician in the production and mining of fertilizer products.
Miss Stanton married Karl Kirk Domingos III on December 2, 1967, in the Chapel of The Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, Georgia. After starting their family, the couple moved to Largo, Florida, and then to Alexandria, Louisiana, where they raised their two children, Jennifer and Allen.
Mrs. Domingos loved water sports and worked as a lifeguard and taught swimming lessons as a high school and college student and as a young mother. She was an active volunteer throughout her life, serving in numerous roles within her church and on various arts and civic committees. A lifelong altar flower arranger, she brought her talent and devotion to every church her family attended.
During her time in Alexandria, Mrs. Domingos was a member of the Junior League, serving as both parliamentarian and treasurer. She was also an active participant in the Alexandria Cotillion Club, the Town and Country Garden Club, and the board of the YMCA. She served on the Rapides Symphony Board and chaired the cookbook committee for Louisiana Entertains, the official cookbook of the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition. A dedicated advocate for the arts, she was a founding member of the board of the Louisiana International Piano Competition.
After moving to New Orleans, Mrs. Domingos worked part-time at Orient Expressed, where she developed a love for Chinese porcelains. Her artistic spirit led her to take lessons at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art, where she discovered her passion for painting abstract art.
In retirement, she returned to Alexandria with her husband and obtained an art studio at the River Oaks Art Center. There, she continued painting and successfully exhibited her work in multiple art shows.
Later, the couple relocated to Highlands, North Carolina, where they spent ten years before returning to Macon to be near family. While in Macon, Mrs. Domingos was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, where her talents graced the choir, Episcopal Church Women, and her cherished ministry of arranging altar flowers. She was also an active member of the Town and Garden Club and the board of the Shirley Hills Homeowners Association.
Mrs. Domingos is survived by her husband, Karl Kirk Domingos III, of Macon, Georgia; her daughter, Jennifer Louise Domingos Dietz (Craig) of Harpswell, Maine; her son, Allen Kirk Domingos (Julia) of Aspen, Colorado; her beloved grandchildren, Eliza Lee Domingos of Aspen, Colorado, and William Stone Domingos Dietz of Harpswell, Maine; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Louise Domingos Warlick of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Louise Nisbet Domingos Hazlehurst (Derrel) of Macon, Georgia.
