Barbara Dixon Newby Williams

Barbara Dixon Newby Williams, 71, of Haddock, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 after a brief illness.  Funeral services will be held Friday, December 11, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Bradley Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Johnson officiating.  The family will greet friends Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel.  Burial will follow funeral services at Bradley Baptist Church Cemetery.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Bradley Baptist Church Missionary, 821 Monticello Hwy., Gray, GA 31032.  The family may be contacted at the residence.

A woman of exceptional faith, she was born in Milledgeville, Georgia, grew up in Haddock with her grandparents, Tom and Lois Dixon, and attended Jones County Schools, graduating in 1966. She was a member of Bradley Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and led Sunday School at Lynn Haven Nursing Home for almost 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a homemaker and caregiver for her family and many children throughout her life. Her greatest passion was being a devoted mom, wife, and granny, and she excelled at each of them. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her mother, Helen D. Wilkinson; second husband, Thomas G. Bennett; and grandson, Scott Crosby.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband of 20 years, Virgil S. Williams of Haddock; daughter, Tammy N. Lundy (Russ) of Baldwin; son, W. Aubrey Newby (Jennifer) of Gray; and daughter, Kimberly W. Owens (Brent) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; father, Rufus Wilkinson of Tifton; brother, Marcus Wilkinson (Tracy) of Lake Blackshear; sister, Wanda Watford (LaDon) of Gray; grandchildren, Haley Watson (Blake) of Haddock, Jacob Crosby of Baldwin, Addison, Grady and Clara Newby of Gray, and Oliver Owens of Myrtle Beach; and 3 great grandchildren, Logan, Cole and Knox Watson of Haddock.
