Barbara Ann Mckenzie Mcguire

Barbara Ann McKenzie McGuire, 82, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on June 7, 2022.  Barbara was born in Decatur, Illinois to the late Herman and Hazel McKenzie on December 7, 1939.  She graduated from Decatur High School, and, following graduation, her family moved to Macon.  Barbara worked at Warner Robins AFB, starting as a clerk-typist, and finishing her thirty-plus year career in the supply chain logistics department.

Barbara was preceded in death by Charles McGuire, her husband of 63 years, and her daughter-in-law Tina McGuire.   She is survived by her son, Ron McGuire, and daughter, Laura Hodges; grandchildren, Patrick (Courtney) Hodges, and Kayla McGuire; sister, Jeanne (Gordon) Bennett; brother, Keith (Terri) McKenzie; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara loved fishing, sewing, playing Hand & Foot and Spite & Malice till the wee hours of the morning, any movie with Burt Reynolds except Deliverance, and playing the slots in Biloxi.  She made countless baby quilts and blankets, many on consignment.  She crocheted innumerable baby blankets, caps and footies, all donated to newborns through Project Linus.  What she loved, above all, was spending time talking with her friends and family.  Her eager hugs, warm smile, infectious laugh, bawdy jokes, and delectable cooking will all be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

A memorial service in Barbara’s remembrance will be held on October 22, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Hart’s at the Cupola on 6324 Peake Road.  Celebrate with us, this life that endures, Barbara McGuire.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Research or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer charities.  Also, donations may be made in Barbara’s name to the donor’s favorite charity.
