Barbara Mullis Bryant

Jun 27, 1935 — Aug 9, 2026

Barbara Mullis Bryant, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on August 9, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Macon Memorial Park with the Reverend Cass DeCharme and Reverend Ethan Brown officiating. The family will greet friends at the graveside following the service.

Born in Macon, Georgia on June 27, 1935, Barbara was the daughter of the late Bob L. Mullis, Sr. and Marguerite Staamer Mullis. A lifelong resident of Macon, she graduated from A.L. Miller High School for Girls. She attended Mercer University, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority, and met the love of her life and husband of 55 years, Billy Harmon Bryant. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and unconditional love.

More than anything else, Barbara treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and daughter, working alongside her father for over 50 years as his personal secretary at the business he founded, Public Saf-T-Oil Service, operating over 50 service stations throughout the Southeast. Additionally, she was a founding member of Highland Hills Baptist Church, a dedicated member of the Journey Sunday School class and served on the flower committee.

Some of Barbara’s favorite times were spent travelling to her homes in Highlands, North Carolina and Amelia Island, Florida. She treasured every moment with her family and found her greatest happiness in being surrounded by those she loved. Among her favorite family traditions were weekends spent in Athens, cheering on the Bulldogs, while Lisa and Benjie were students at UGA. She had a generous heart and found joy in helping others whenever she could.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Lisa Bryant Walker (Jimbo) of Macon, Benjamin Harmon Bryant (Sara Lynn) of Lake Oconee; grandchildren, Bryant Walker, Sailer Walker, Caroline Bryant and Alyson Bryant Richards (Conrad); great-grandchildren Nora Belle Richards and James Marcus Richards; niece Margaret Ann Preston (Alan). She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, brothers Bobby Lee Mullis, Jr. and Julius Melton Mullis, and stepmother Roslyn “Lyn” Mullis.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Barbara’s caregivers, Felicia Sims, Sharon Redding, Josephine Reese, Cora Childs, Cathy Fleming, Carolyn Davis, and Bobbi Gordan, as well as the staff of Pine Point Hospice, for the outstanding treatment and care she received.
