Barbanel Borah born 4 Aug 1917 of Milledgeville, formerly of Greensboro and Macon GA is survived by his widow, Frances Adams Borah, his sister Ester Cruz, sister-in-laws, Annabelle Borah and Reba Borah; 5 of his 6 children; Barba Nel Affourtit, Frank (Butch) Borah, Ken Borah, Kathy Swann, Bambi Cantello; 17 grandchildren; Traci Dammann, Brien Swann, Francine Affourtit, Lorraine Affourtit, Kelli Sikes, Charlie Affourtit, Randy Peterson, Richard Affourtit, Shawn Peterson, Sherry Peterson, Robby Borah, Katherine Borah, Brandon Borah, Bruce Borah, Erin Borah, Sage Barnard, and Tony Cantello; and 2 great grandchildren; Micah Dammann and Eli Sikes. He is predeceased by his parents; Aaron & Bessie Borah, four brothers; Bernard Borah, Julius Borah, Joe Borah & Rubin Borah, his wives Katherine Borah and Barbara Beckley, and his son Bruce Borah. Born in New York City and raised in Tennessee, Barbanel Borah is a veteran of World War II. Serving in the active reserve, he rose to the rank of colonel. He played football at Harriman High School, University of Tennessee, Brooklyn College, and the Robins AFB Rockets. While working at Robins Air Force Base, after leaving the military, he served as president of the Civilian Welfare Council and the Better Management Association. He had 23 suggestions adopted at Robins Air Force Base. Borah was married to the former Katherine Brooks of Macon, who was the mother of his six children, one of whom, Bruce Borah, is deceased. Borah was active in duplicate bridge, and served as president of the Macon Duplicate Bridge Club. He also served as president of Unit 114 of the American Contract Bridge League, and as president of District Seven. He was chairman of six Regional Bridge tournaments, as well as well as thirty Sectionals. Borah is the author of the book, "Lagi Le Iloa", about his adventures on the Samoan Islands, and a volume of poetry, "The Vagrant Dreamer". Funeral Services will be held at Hart's Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street, Macon, GA on Monday, October 12th, at 11:00 AM followed by a burial at Riverside Cemetery. Family members and friends are invited to a reception and memorial at 2:00 PM at the home of Frank and Gayle Borah at 1255 John E. Sullivan Road, Byron GA.
