Arthur A. Slocumb, Jr.

Arthur A. Slocumb, Jr., 69, of Keystone Heights, passed 11 January 2019. Services will be held at 12:00 PM (“High Noon”) on Saturday, 2 Feb 2019 at Hart's Mortuary, Jones County Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow in the Slocumb-Wheeler Cemetery on Monticello Highway, Jones County, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made “In Memory of Master Gunnery Sergeant Arthur A. Slocumb, Jr.” to The Gainesville Fisher House, P. O. Box 358296, Gainesville, FL 32635.

Mr. Slocumb was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, to Arthur Arnold Slocumb, Sr. and Marie Bradshaw Slocumb on 24 July 1949. He retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps after 24 years of distinguished and decorated service and having served in Vietnam. He is predeceased by his wife of 23 years, Belle West and step-son, Mike West. Survivors include, wife of 20 years, Carol Slocumb Jenkins, and their 3 sons, Arthur (Brigette) Slocumb, III, Michael Wayne (Barbara) Slocumb, and James Matthew (Betty) Slocumb; grandchildren, Amanda(Joey), Randi, Preston, Dustin, Savannah, Gabriella (Ben), James, Caselynn, Eva and Morgan; great-grandchildren, Cylus, Ryleigh, and Liam; sister, Camille (Byron) Farley; niece, Ellen (Sean) Watkins; grandnephews, Julian and Adrien; 2 step-sons, Larry (Michelle) West and Tom (Fran ) West; and numerous step-grand and great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles and cousins in North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
