Arthur Paul Melton, Iii

Arthur Paul Melton, III, 84, of Gray, died Sunday, February 14, 2021.  Out of consideration for the health of friends of the family, funeral service will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohoopee Baptist Church, P.O. Box 313, Tennille, GA 31089.

Son of the late Montene S. Melton and Arthur Paul Melton, Jr., Mr. Melton graduated from Lanier High School and graduated from Mercer University in 2002 with a degree in theology.  He pastored several churches, Thomaston Road Baptist Church and Bowden Homes Mission Church, including Ohoopee Baptist Church in Washington County for 20 years until 2016. He was a member and past president of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) #2304 in Jones County.  He began his career at 18 years old at Robins Air Force Base.  He then went to the Social Security Administration, retiring in 1992.

Paul is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frankie Melton of Gray; children, Mark Melton (Jennifer) of Aiken, South Carolina, Philip Melton (Lori) of Savannah, Georgia, and Laura Melton Burton (Jay) of Abita Springs, Louisiana; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sister, Carolyn McElheney of Macon; brother, James Melton (Julia) of Gray; and several nieces and nephews.
