Annie Ruth Strickland

Annie Ruth Strickland, 93, of Byron, Georgia, passed away on April 26, 2025.  The family will greet friends from 3:00PM to 5:00PM on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street, with a funeral service following on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 2:00PM, with the Pastor Joe Bowker officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.

Born on June 8, 1931, in Cedar Grove, Georgia, to the late Dorsey Lafayette Franks and Maudie Pauline Meeks Franks, Annie Ruth brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She was a cherished member of Berean Baptist Church and made it a point to let everyone she knew understand just how important Jesus Christ was in her life. Through her words and actions, she consistently shared her faith, emphasizing how vital it was for each person to have a personal relationship with Him.

Annie Ruth was a dedicated Macon Mall walker for 40 years and she had a love for gardening, which brought beauty to her home and the lives of those around her.

Always embracing celebration, Annie Ruth was known for dressing in festive attire and cheerfully walking around town during the holidays, bringing smiles to many. She was often described as the life of the party, a title she held dear to her heart.

Annie Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her children: Wanda Woodward, Anthon Strickland, Jr. (Nancy), and John Paul Strickland (Regina); grandchildren: Mark Hardin (Keta), Bridgett Mathis (Cliff), Leann Strickland, Celia Strickland, Chris Adkison (Sara) and Tina Elvins (Al); eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Annie Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Anthon T. Strickland; granddaughter, Stephanie Malandrino; and sisters, Trell Boone, Maudie Rogers, Daisy Woodard, Gladys Halligan and Martha Williams; and nephew, D.L. Martin who she loved as a brother.
