Annie Ruth Scarbary-Freeman

June 19, 1935 — May 25, 2009

Annie Ruth Scarbary-Freeman was called home to be with our Lord on May 24, 2009 with many family members and friends at her bedside listening to her Old Hymns of Faith. Annie Ruth was born on June 19, 1935 to Nattie Lee and Ozell H. Clanton in Macon, Georgia. She grew up in Macon, GA and married the late William Prentice Scarbary with whom they had five children. She is survived by her children; Prentice Russell Scarbary and Lavelda Scarbary of Forsyth, GA, Emmett Edmond (Rick) Scarbary and April Scarbary of Davie, FL, Thomas Lee (Smokey) Scarbary and Tomi Scarbary of Davie, FL, Connie Scarbary Campbell and Michael Campbell of St. Augustine, FL, and Timothy Edwin Scarbary of St. Augustine, FL.

Leaving from Macon, GA in the later 1960s, she relocated in South Florida for over forty years of her life, having a career in banking for over thirty years. She was so dearly loved by her brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and church family. She was so well known for her down home country cookin' and genuine love for her family. Everyone she knew was "Darlin" to her and she dearly loved the Lord. She always said that when she got to Heaven, she would be waiting in that big mansion for all her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nattie Lee and Ozell H. Clanton; brothers, James Howard Clanton, Horace Lee Clanton, O.H. Clanton, Jr., and Roy M. Clanton. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Freeman of Aventura, FL and two grandchildren, Rabian Chance Kohlenberger and Jushua Lee Scarbary.

She is survived in death by her two loving sisters, Lillian L. Richard and Clyde Richard of Marion, IL, and Judy L. Jackson and Fred Jackson of North Lauderdale, FL; a brother and sister, Reba and Joey Hamrick of Macon, GA. Also a son, Dennis Freeman and Reagan Freeman of Aventura, FL. Part of the greatest joy of her life was having twenty four grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren whom all knew her as "Mema". She was also a member of the Turning Point at Calvary Baptist Church of St. Augustine, FL. God truly blessed the life of everyone she knew and she will be missed by so many. The family would like to thank all who have been there to support them during this most difficult time.

The family will be receiving friends from 7:00-9:00PM on Friday, May 29, 2009 and funeral services to be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 2:00PM at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210. Reverend Donald Joey Hamrick and Kenny Parham will be officiating the services. She will then be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Macon, GA.
