Macon- Annie I. Gibbs, "Anne" of Jacksonville, FL, age 92 passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 in Macon. Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 11:00AM, at Oakland Cemetery in Waycross, GA. Mrs. Gibbs was born on April 14, 1918 in Hahira, GA, the daughter of Hattie Anne Pattillo Infinger and Reverend Cary Marvin Infinger. She was married to the late George R. Gibbs. Mrs. Gibbs graduated from Andrew College and attended Scarritt College. She taught school in Waresboro, GA and Jacksonville, FL. In her late 40's, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a nurse and worked as an LPN both in Jacksonville and Savannah. Mrs. Gibbs was a talented pianist/organist and started playing in her father's Methodist churches when she was 9 years old. She was the organist for 40 years at Murray Hill United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gibbs was active in her church in the WSCS, her circle and as a Sunday School teacher. She loved reading and studying scripture. As a teenager, she played piano for a weekly radio show and later played for many civic shows, dance school, and accompanied instrumental and voice students. Mrs. Gibbs was known for her sewing and all types of needlework. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Wesley Infinger, her sister, Margaret Edith Infinger Love, and her great-granddaughter, Lydia Vail Tripp. Survivors: Daughter, Margaret Anne Gibbs Woods (Ronald) of Jacksonville, FL; Daughter, Celia Frances Gibbs Rogers of Savannah, GA; Daughter, Judith Lee Gibbs Walker of Macon, GA; Daughter, Elizabeth Claire Gibbs Tripp (John) of Macon, GA; Sister, Cary M. Infinger Ryals of Waycross, GA, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 5 step-great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Murray Hill United Methodist Church, 4101 College Street, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
