Ann Hodges Kinnett of Charleston, South Carolina, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Burial will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery, Fort Valley, Georgia, followed by a memorial service at 2:30 PM at Fort Valley United Methodist Church, 301 West Church Street, Fort Valley, Georgia, with James Hamlin officiating, and a reception immediately following in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Ann was born on April 19, 1928, at her family home in Oconee, Georgia, to the late Mattie Louise Smith Hodges and the late Cecil Moye Hodges, Sr. She graduated from Tennille High School and received her teaching degree from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. After graduation, she taught school in Valdosta and then in Fort Valley where she met her husband Don and they lived for more than fifty years. She was an active and devoted member of Fort Valley United Methodist Church. She loved gardening, especially growing roses, and was a long-time member of the Magnolia Garden Club, as well as many other clubs and organizations. A devoted wife, mother, and Grandmom, she was preceded in death by her dear husband of 62 years, Donovan DeWitt Kinnett, Jr., her sister Patsy Hodges Hutcheson, and her brother Cecil M. Hodges, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Beth Renken (Kenny) of Charleston, South Carolina, her son Van Kinnett (Carla) of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, her four grandchildren Robby Renken (Julia), Holly Rodelsperger (Robert) and Christine Kinnett all of Charleston, South Carolina, and Caroline Kinnett of Nashville, Tennessee, her five great-grandchildren Allie, Emma, and Peter Rodelsperger and Robert IV and Sadler Ann Renken, all of Charleston, South Carolina, her sisters-in-law, Isabel Kinnett Davis and Shirley H. Hodges, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her special caregiver Linda McCalip.
