Ann W. Fugate

November 20, 1939 — July 6, 2015

Ann W. Fugate passed away on July 6, 2015. Services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:00AM at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 40 Rumble Road, Forsyth, Georgia, 31086. The Reverend Liza Marler will be officiating. Family will greet friends following the service. Ms. Fugate graduated from Osborne High School in Marietta, Georgia. She then graduated from the University of Chattanooga where she was in Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was a varsity cheerleader and homecoming queen. She received her Master's degree in Education at Georgia College. She was a long time social studies teacher and basketball coach in the Bibb County School System. When she retired, she went to work for Cox Communications teaching teachers how to use cable in the classroom. She was active with the Downtown Council and the Grand Opera House. Ms. Fugate is the daughter of Benjamin Dewayne West and Mildred Sandberg West. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lori Ann Fugate Brock. She is survived by her brother, William Painter (Beverly) of Acworth, Georgia; sisters, Mary Ellen Sullivan of Austell, Georgia, and Betty Jo Petty of Pomona, California; former husband, Walter Fugate of Smarr, Georgia; and special friends, Allison McMenamy of Macon, Georgia, and Ashley Fugate of Smarr, Georgia.
