Ann Williamson Dunlap

Macon- Ann Williamson Dunlap, 85, of 1260 Jackson Springs Road, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 following a short illness. Funeral services will be held graveside at 11:30AM on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 in Riverside Cemetery with Dr. William W. Oliver and the Reverend James Duke officiating. The family may be contacted at 1151 Oakcliff Road, the residence of Mr. and Mrs. George Youmans, Sr. Mrs. Dunlap was the widow of James Williams Dunlap and the daughter of the late Marie Semken Williamson and Odell Wayne Williamson. She was predeceased by her daughter, Joann Dunlap Horton of Gray, Georgia, and her brother, Odell W. Williamson, Jr. of Atlanta. Mrs. Dunlap is survived by her grandson, James Robert (Jaime) Horton and several nieces and nephews: Mrs. George E. Youmans, Macon, Mrs. Margina Cogswell, Atlanta, Mrs. John Phillips, Cochran, Mrs. Mack Lowrey, Athens, Mrs. Mike Miller, Greensboro, Mrs. Jody Boling, Cumming, Miss Lanier Watson, New Orleans, Mrs. Jane W. Norley of West Chester, PA and Marc Wilson of Augusta. Mrs. Dunlap was born in Savannah but moved to Macon and attended Bibb County public schools. She attended Randolph Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, Virginia, and graduated from the University of Virginia with an A.B. degree in journalism. She was a member of Theta Sigma Phi, the national honorary society for women in journalism and communications. Mrs. Dunlap was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church, a founding member of Town and Country Garden Club, Phi Mu sorority, and Past President of the Junior League of Macon. She was also the President and Chairman of the Dunlap-Williamson Foundation.
