Athens- Andrew David Varn 94 died 4/15/10 at his residence within Iris Place in Athens, Ga - after a brief illness under the care of hospice. His wife Harriet Hudson Varn was at his side. He had been a lifelong resident of Bibb County until moving in 2001 to Athens to be near his daughters. He was retired from Institutional Wholesale Food Co. During WWII he served with the 104th Timberwolf Division and 65th Infantry Division. He was the son of the late Andrew and Lulie Paul Varn. He was the proud member of Marshall A Weir lodge No. 448 Ft Am, 32nd degree Scottish Rite and Al Sihah Temple. He loved attending Georgia Football games and continued to watch every game that was televised with enthusiasm. In addition to his wife, Harriet, he is survived by his daughters Harriet (Wayne) Mathews & Kay (Ted) Chaffin all of Athens. 4 grandchildren- Leigh (Mark) Segell, Athens, David (Linda) Mathews, Elberton, Kat (Steve Motz) Chaffin, Athens & Elizabeth Chaffin, Athens and 2 great grandchildren Tom & Eric Mathews and a third on the way Margaret Sawyer Motz. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Masonic Home - Macon Ga. The service will be graveside at 11am Wednesday April 20th at Riverside Cemetery - entering through Northgate.
