Amelda Andrews Chapman, 78, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00AM, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Bryan Hinson officiating. Interment will be held in the Church’s Memorial Garden. Following the service, the family will greet friends in the undercroft of the church.
Amelda was a graduate of A.L. Miller High School. She attended Huntingdon College and was a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia, where she was elected to Phi Kappa Phi. She pursued graduate studies at Georgia College.
Amelda taught for 36 years in Bibb County schools. She was a member of Bibb Retired Educators Association and Georgia Retired Educators Association. She also was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Amelda is survived by her husband, Wesley Chapman; her son, Wes Chapman III (Toni); her grandchild, Bill Chapman IV; her sister, Barbara Hutchins (Bob); her sister-in-law, Bunnie Andrews; and her nephews, Brad Hutchins (Andrea), Brandon Andrews (Lauren), Chad Andrews, and David Caldwell. She also leaves behind four great-nieces, two great nephews, and several cousins.
Amelda is preceded in death by her parents, E.P. and Lorene Andrews; her brother, Andy Andrews; and her infant niece, Babs Hutchins.
