Amalie Kessler Proskauer

Amalie Kessler Proskauer, 102, a longtime resident of Macon, Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm, Monday, July 15, 2024, at the Cherry Street chapel of Hart’s Mortuary with Rabbi Aaron Rubinstein officiating. Burial will be in the old Sha’arey Israel Cemetery in Rose Hill.

Mrs. Proskauer was born in Austria to the late Nat and Elsa Popper Kessler. She and her late husband, Dolph Proskauer, were the owners of Kessler Jewelers.  She was a longtime member of Congregation Sha’arey Israel.

Mrs. Proskauer is survived by her daughters, Martha Schmitz (Stuart) and Doris Bender (Jim); three grandchildren, Michael Bender (Jennifer), Stephen Bender, and Johanna Kichaven (Jonathan); and four great-grandchildren, Hannah Bender, Sydney Bender, Henry Kichaven, and Cooper Kichaven.

Hart’s Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201 has charge of arrangements.
