Alva G. Lavender

Gordon, GA- Alva G. Lavender, 84, of 1418 New Haven Church Road, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 3:00PM at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Leland Collins officiating. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 3:00PM until 5:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Mr. Lavender attended New Haven Baptist Church and was a member of VFW. He served his country during World War II, enlisting in the United States Navy. He then returned to Twiggs County where he became self-employed. Mr. Lavender was predeceased by his daughters, Shirley Ann Lavender Schlueter and Sara G. Lavender Holland and his sister, Shirley Sikes. Mr. Lavender is survived by his children, Thomas A. Lavender (Debra) of Macon, Ruth Elaine Lavender Hall of Gray and Lonnie R. Lavender (Vickie) of Gordon; brothers, Otis B. Lavender of Macon and George C.
